Finding Your Power: Listening for Healing

 March 22, 2020

Evoking the Mystery

¯Come and rest, Come and listen, Lay the fullness of your lives before the Maker

Introduction

¯Come and rest, Come and listen, There’s a wisdom deep within that calls us closer

Examen

For that which, then, I thought was right…have mercy, God.

For that which, now, I regret… forgive me, God.

For that which, hence, I know not what to do…guide me, God.

Come and rest, come and listen. Know that grace, forgiveness and guidance are available to you at each and every moment that we turn to receive them.

Thanks be to God.

¯Come and rest, Come and listen, Lay the fullness of your lives before the Maker.

Opening Hymn

For the Healing of the Nations

¯For the healing of the nations, Lord, we pray with one accord; for a just and equal sharing of the things that earth affords; to a life of love in action help us rise and pledge our word, help us rise and pledge our word.

¯You, Creator God, have written your great name on humankind; for our growing in your likeness bring the life of Christ to mind, that by our response and service earth its destiny may find, earth its destiny may find.

The Psalmist’s Prayer

Psalm 22: 1-5; 25-26

L: My God! My God, why have you left me all alone? Why are you so far from saving me—

P: so far from my anguished groans?

L: My God, I cry out during the day, but you don’t answer;

P: even at nighttime I don’t stop.

L: You are the holy one, enthroned.

P: You are Israel’s praise.

L: Our ancestors trusted you—

P: they trusted you and you rescued them;

L: they cried out to you and they were saved;

P: they trusted you and they weren’t ashamed.

L: I offer praise in the great congregation

    because of you;

    I will fulfill my promises

P: in the presence of those who honor God.

L: Let all those who are suffering eat and be full!

P: Let all who seek praise the Lord!

Doxology

¯Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Praise Him all creatures here below.

Praise Him above ye heavenly host.

Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Let us pray. God of power and might, you bring forth life in the midst of death, healing in the midst of disease, and hope in the darkest places of our despair. You reach out for our hand, that we might be made whole, but also that our hands might bring healing and life to others. May the gifts we offer to you this morning bring life and healing to your children, both near and far. We pray in the name of your Son, our life and our healer. Amen.

Prayers of the People

¯Meet me here, Find me in my wanderings, Meet me here, Deep within my soul

Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Hymn

Have Thine Own Way Lord

¯Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way! Thou art the potter; I am the clay. Mold me and make me after thy will, while I am waiting, yielded and still.

¯Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way! Wounded and weary, help me I pray! Power, all power, surely is thine! Touch me and heal me, Savior divine!

¯Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way! Hold o'er my being absolute sway. Fill with thy Spirit till all shall see Christ only, always, living in me!
